Start your trip from the cleanest and organized city in Africa- Kigali, visit Akagera NP where you will discover the country’s only protected savana land and observe animals.
Cross over to Bwaindi impenetrable National park in Uganda, the only park you will have a full trek of gorillas and then proceed to Lake Bunyonyi. Bunyonyi is the deepest lake in East Africa and has a lot to explore including it’s cool temperatures. Lake Mburo is on your list too and it is designated as world heritage sites. Explore the amazing life in Ssese Island on Lake Victoria, the most famous fresh water lake in Africa. Proceed to Entebbe and Kampala on your transit to the industrial city of Uganda-Jinja.
Get ready for the third phase of the trip in Kenya side. Spend a night in Kisumu city which is Kenya’s port city on Lake Victoria. You will enjoy lake side view points and then proceed to Maasai Mara commonly known as the Mara. Visit the national reserve where all kinds of animals are found and then have a full day adventure in the local community. Naivasha and Hells gates national park are also on the list and then ending the trip in Nairobi national Park.
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali international airport
Up on arrival at the airport, People’s Choice tours staff will welcome you and transfer you to your allocated hotel for overnight and resting
Day 2 Transfer to Akagera National Park
After breakfast at the hotel, you will check out and proceed to Akagera national park. Upon arrival at the park, you will have a briefing and will be introduced to your park guide. You will then embark on a game viewing drive in the park. Transfer to the lodge for check in and lunch.
The game drive in Akagera National Park provides you with the opportunity to view gentle hills blending beautifully with lowland swamps and water bodies. You will visit the Giraffe area in the south and the lakes road up towards Birengero. Akagera National park is a home for animals like elephant buffalo, Giraffe, zebra and more than a dozen types of antelope inhabit the park, most commonly the handsome chestnut-coated impala, but also the diminutive oribi and secretive bushbuck, as well as the ungainly tsessebe and the world’s largest antelope, the statuesque Cape eland. 15h30: Depart for afternoon game drive in the park. Return to the lodge before sunset. Then you will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable national park
After having breakfast at the lodge, you get ready for the journey to Uganda. It takes less than two hours to cross to Uganda. You will proceed to Bwindi and check in at Safari lodge: Gorilla Mist Camp. You will take a rest and get ready for afternoon game drive in the park. Then you will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi.
After very early breakfast, you will be guided to the park headquarters for the briefing session about the gorilla trackers code of conduct from the park’s guides. Thereafter, you will get ready, along with your packed lunches to embark on the lifetime memorable experience in this magnificent forest for gorilla tracking. The trail you use may reward you with exciting moments of the giant mountain gorillas ‘this will be a reward of the ultimate gorilla experience’ as well as other primates that inhabit the forest. Then you will return to your hotel – Safari lodge: Gorilla Mist Camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 5: Bwindi and Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi.
Breakfast; thereafter, depart for the gorilla trekking briefing point after confirming you have the following necessities; A packed lunch, a backpack with 02 liters of bottled drinking water, a rain jacket, hiking boots, extra warm clothing, Insect repellent, gloves, camera with charged batteries etc. This gorilla walk can take up to six hours, so a reasonable degree of fitness and a sturdy pair of walking shoes are required.
In the afternoon you will transfer to the stunning lake Bunyonyi for sightseeing and the lake is known for various bird species like White tailed blue monard, African Harrier Hawk, grey crowned cranes, Herons, egrets, the cardinal woodpecker, the levillant cuckoo, slender-billed baglafetch, weavers and many more. Dinner and overnight at Bunyonyi Birdnest Resort.
Day 6: Explore Lake Bunyonyi, the Community and Boat Ride
After breakfast, visit the distinctive Batwa and Abaheesi (black smiths) societies or to the Bukora Cave. Have lunch at the resort and enjoy the afternoon on a boat ride, canoeing or go for a cycling tour around the area. You also have the option of visiting and spend some time interacting with the Batwa (pygmies) community who inhabit parts of the forest and its surrounding areas. Birders will treat themselves with well over 300 bird species recorded. Like pied kingfishers, swallows among others. Alternative a full-day canoe trek on Lake Bunyonyi will introduce you to the major islands and their rich history, but also to a traditional healer and a craft maker who live on a peninsula with most complete views of the 25-kilometres long lake. There will be some little energetic hiking but also great time spent in traditional dugout canoes
Day 7: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park.
Have an early breakfast and transfer to Mburo via Mbarara for lunch and Igongo cultural center. The park is renowned for zebras, impalas, buffaloes, hippos, topi and elands including the rare shoebill, crested crane, pelicans, fish eagle, heron and many water birds. Evening boat cruise amidst the Hippos is amazing.Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge.
Day 8: Lake Mburo Park exploration
Morning game drive in the Park which is an is an extension of the Tanzanian Plains with big herds of Zebra, Impala, Eland , Warthogs ,buffalo and other savannah species. For birders, this is one of the best place to find African Fin foot, Papyrus, Bush Shrike, etc. The evening is spent on relaxing at the Lodge observing game moving in the park. Dinner and overnight at Mihingo Lodge. For dinner and overnight.
Day 9: Transfer to Ssese Island.
After breakfast with a packed lunch, drive to Bukakata for your transfer to Ssese Islands. Enjoy the cruise as you pass via a series of Islands and fishing villages to Ssese Islands inside Lake Victoria. After your lunch, relax at the beach or take a nature walk inside the forest. Overnight and dinner at Ssese Habitat Resort.
Day 10: Transfer to Entebbe
After your early breakfast, you are driven to Pier for a cruise inside Lake Victoria. Enjoy the cruise as you pass via a series of Islands and fishing villages. You will then land into Nakiwoko in Entebbe in time for lunch .Relax at the hotel to recount memories of your African trip. An option of nature walk to the lake shore can be done. Dinner and overnight at Lake Victoria Hotel Entebbe. After the trip, then a transfer to the Airport for your flight back home or to the next destination is arranged depending on your schedule.
Day 11: Transfer to Jinja and source of the Nile
Transfer from Kampala in the morning with tour guide and driver from People’s choice tours and head to Jinja. The Road Trip covers a drive through Uganda’s Biggest Rain Forest, the Mabira Rain Forest. On your arrival to Jinja, we get to the lodge to enjoy lunch and in the afternoon we then make a boat trip to the source of the Nile where the water starts its three month journey to the red sea via Egypt.
Day 12: Water rafting and a guided visit to Jinja town
After breakfast, you will spend the day enjoying what the industrial city of Jinja has to offer. A big highlight here is the possibility to go whitewater rafting on the mighty Nile. There are different difficulty levels so could be some option that fit most. Another option is to explore Jinja town. (Note that rafting is not included in the quoted price). Dinner and overnight at Jinja Nile resort.
Day 13: JInjja (Uganda) to Kisumu (Kenya)
After breakfast, checkout from the hotel and get ready for a cross border journey to Kisumu Kenya. Kisumu and the neighboring places are a known source of world class athletes. You will also enjoy the high altitudes of more than 2400 meters above sea level. You will have a city tour in the afternoon to meet the local community. After a long journey, you will have dinner and overnight at Victoria comfort inn.
Day 14: Kisumu to Maasai Mara
After breakfast in Kisumu, you get ready for Maasai Mara. You will arrive and check in at the hotel. You will get lunch and depart for the game drive. You will have a full afternoon game viewing and a visit to Mara River. You will return to the hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 15: A Full day in Maasai Mara community
An early morning game drive followed by breakfast at the lodge. Rest of the morning at leisure at the lodge. After lunch proceeds to Visiting Maasai Village and learn about Maasai culture.
You’ve seen pictures of them – adorned with the brilliant red, blue and purple patterns of the shukas they wear. The men with their spears, tall and proud. The women bejeweled with bright beaded earrings and scarves. These are some of the oldest inhabitants of East Africa, the Maasai people.
They live in small mud-thatched villages, surrounded by their cattle and smaller livestock. For hundreds of years, the Masai have roamed these lands of Kenya and Tanzania, living a free, nomadic lifestyle. Their traditional lands now comprise much of Kenya’s national parks. Day 16: Transfer to Naivasha
After breakfast, you will checkout from your lodge camp and have a wildlife viewing as you head to Naivasha. Upon arrival on time, you will check in at your hotel and have lunch. After lunch, you will get ready for a boat ride to enjoy bird watching and sighting of the hippos. You will visit Crescent Island for a guided walk tour where you will watch giraffes, zebra and buffaloes among others. You will return to your hotel for dinner and overnight at Taphe Guest House or a budget hotel near Lake Naivasha
Day 17: Transfer to Hells gate
After an early breakfast you will proceed to Hell’s Gate National Park, where you will have a chance to visit the geothermal power plant in Ol Karia and the hot springs. This is the only park that allows you to get around both on foot or bike. You may go on an optional boat ride to Crescent Island, where you can watch hippos and other wild animals. After lunch you will make your way to Nairobi. You will check in at your hotel for relaxing, dinner and overnight.
Day 18: Transfer to Nairobi National Park then to airport.
After early breakfast, you will be driven to Nairobi National Park where you will start with a game drive in the park. You will visit among others, the elephant orphanage and giraffe center. You will enjoy the day in the park watching the black rhinos, lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras and Leopards among others. This will mark the end of your tour and then you will be transferred to Kinyata International airport or any place of your choice in Nairobi.
